It's About Time!

Well... our Mac died and so I have no pictures to speak of to put on here... but I just wanted to share with who ever wants to enjoy it can... if it offends you don't comment and move on!

This is my life, what I experience day to day and so I felt like sharing...
Mason-isms
Staples in our home, and the constant things we say...

1." Drink and Eat": when Sami gets on what she claims as her couch, our love seat, and gets all situated, with blanket (her couch blanket we have two) and than asks for Drink and Eat for whatever it is 'he is about to watch, it ranges in shows-movies-a video game we are playing... it doesn't matter if she just ate dinner, it's Drink and Eat time... We are very casual and I would very much like to break them of this habit so maybe in the future... but she gets a lidded cup, and than a bowl of crackers, or whatnot. Every time she says it's her couch we say no... it's the families couch, it was the first couch we ever bought.

2."I need a treat" Double Stuff Oreo's: When we are out the world is over, I can't remember when we got in this habit of relying on Oreo's... the one cookie I really don't enjoy all that much, but never the less. Dave started buying them, and they are a constant thing in our home. Sami eats the entire thing, she carefully pulls them apart and eats the frosting than eats the cookie, Daphne pulls them apart eats just the frosting and we can always tell where she has eaten them because there are oreo sides in a scattering and we know Daphne has been there... when I eat them, it's with a glass of milk but since oreo's are very high in Satuated Fat I steer clear and eat my carmel rice cakes.

3. "Just Go to Bed": Bedtime for the girls in our house is 8 pm. We try and get them in bed by 7:30 and on the nights Dave works it's closer to 8:30, but Sami fights it every night prefers to sleep on "her couch". there are nights I will get up with Ezra and Sami will have sneaked out sometime in night to her couch, and I am a mean mom  I wake her up and make her get back in her bed. But when the falls asleep in her bed, she does so pretty quick, her sister on the other hand stays up until about 10:30-11 playing in her room, sometimes she wanders out to the front room to be silly, but most the time she just plays... I don't know what exactly she does but in the morning there usually toys in the clothes drawers...

4." I don't like that": Whenever I cook dinner, doesn't matter if i am just looking at a cook book, Sami wanders over asks me 20 questions about what i am making and I try and answer with the shortest possible response because I know what she is going to say, unless I am making, cheese roll-up, popcorn, peanut butter jelly sandwich, the answer is always I don't like that. I than go on to tell her, it's rice, you like rice; it's noodles you like that; or my favorite, it's bread with cheese... when I make rolls... seriously? When does it get easier to feed kids... truth is, she has to eat what I give her or she gets no treat, and goes to bed. Daphne eats, she might delay it a bit but she will eat, Sami fights every bite, meal time is the hardest time, but I don't make yucky food so she is just fine. "

5. "That's what I'm thinking": Sami has an agenda it doesn't matter what we are doing, she has an agenda... lately she'll be in bed and she'll get out of bed and its obvious she has put quite a bit of thought into it, but she comes out and says... in the morning after I do this than i want you to do this and than ends like a 5 list sequence with saying. "That's what I'm thinking" most the time we just humor her and say ok... in reality it never goes as planned... she watches an hour of Sesame street in the morning than the tv is off until after lunch and nap time... pretty soon she will get smart and realize Mom's boss and your on my time!

6. "I'm going to the gym": Dave started going to the gym regularly a few quarters ago when he needed the extra credits and has continued to go about 3 times a week. he is a morning person and so he usually gets up and goes right around 7 am, I stay in bed until about 8 unless there is somewhere I have to be, usually Ezra is still in bed so I try and stretch it out as much as possible. Since I'm not a huge fan of gyms I work out at home in front of my tv with a workout dvd I am getting quite the collection. I have said I am not to be bothered it's like I am at the gym... but none the less I am bothered over and over and over again... sheesh!

7. "I wanna Poop Skittles": One of Dave's favorite teachers at school who taught all his animation classes and some of his programming ones, one day in class used the phrase "Poop Skittles" he said in response to a complaint... "well I want to poop skittles" Dave is one of those guys who repeats stuff over and over again... he hears a phrase and it is stuck in his head for so long... I usually have to ban the word of phrase after a bit.. so we have been using that phrase in our house... it's more of joke with the girls because Sami thinks literally... poop skittles gross... so when she says I wanna drink and eat, and she just had something about 20 min ago... we say... well I wanna poop skittles. Family humor is a good thing, preparing them for the world, which is not getting easier to live in.

8. "And that is what you Get": When we were first married Dave worked at CompUSA and I would go to eat lunch with him and on the wall... was a poster and it said sell two platinum tap and than it had a picture of 2 $10 bills than it said and that is what you get. It became a big joke with us and so now that is a very used phrase in our house... you run around and trip when we tell you not to, that's what you get.... I eat something I know i shouldn't and don't feel well.. that is what I get.

9. "Shoot Fire": I am not going to deny it I swear... I don't say the F, B or whatever words but I say S and D word when i hurt myself or something scares me... but I am trying to get better and so I picked up from some show "Shoot Fire" but as soon as i started saying it Sami asks me where there is a fire... so now I have to come up with something better.

10. "Master of the House": I enjoy singing, I don't proclaim to be a good singer but I can hold a good tune... and well I just saw Les Miserable and it was so good but I can't seem to get the songs out of my head... i have taught them to Dave and so now he goes around singing "Master of the House, keeper of the keys" over and over and over again. Whenever we sing and Sami hears us she screams at us until we stop. We sometimes keep singing and change the sound of our voice just to tease her, after a bit we either stop or tell her to knock it off we are aloud to sing too... have I told you Dave never sings the songs with the right words? i probably don't either have the time but he doesn't know to tell me.

11. "Hot Dog, Hot Dog": I love to dance... sometimes I will just get in the mood i will turn on the music and just start grooving it out... dancing with a kid in my arms, or just sweating by myself. My favorite song to dance to is the Mickeys' Club House intro song... "Hot Dog, hot dog, hot diggity dog" At the very end I do the goofy dance and the girls think I am funny. Those are my fun moments of the day when i can make my kids laugh by being my "goofy' self... and they love me for it.

12. "Daddy play Little Big Planet 2": as most of you know Dave is a big time gamer... he games for entertainment I watch movies for entertainment. I do enjoy a few video games, Tetris, Bejewled, Mario Kart, and Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed. So when the mood strikes this is what we do together, and it's fun. We have a multiplayer Tetris which rocks, and I am a master at the Bejewled I have... Dave is fun and makes sure I always have some game to entertain me when the mood strikes. Also he plays games for the girls... they played through the latest mario Party, the girls being excited for him to save the princess, and now they are working on some of the 7 million levels on Little Big Planet 2. It has costumes for the characters on Toy Story.

13. "Clickety clackety": When I was pregnant with well all my kids I would go to bed early and for most the places we have lived, our main computer is in our room. I would go to be early and I would ask Dave to go out in the other room with his lap top so i could get some sleep because I couldn't sleep through the clickety clackety of his fingers hitting the keys... now it's just our joke... when I'm on the computer doing something he doesn't know etc... it's pretty funny.

14."I wanna say the prayer": there are those things in life where you are just proud of your kids... every time we say a prayer of any sort, over a meal, as a family at night or in the morning it's a fight over who says the prayer. At least once a day we have to put our foot down and say, we are saying it, but many a day in our house are tears shed because they want to say the prayer. Sami has gotten better with her prayers and doesn't have to be walked through, but there are those times where she repeats her self over and over again, or prays for toys, and so we correct her, and remind her the purpose for the prayer. She never forgets to bless Baby Ezra to be healthy and strong. Daphne loves to say the prayer we walk her through it, she doesn't ever want to do it on her own. But for every sentence we say she says one word... We say please bless the food, she says "food" etc... it's pretty cute. I have never seen such a cute kid being so reverent. When she is being good she folds her arms, and closes her eyes and is so reverent...

15. "Ezra's crying": this is a phrase I hear at least a few times a day, letting Ezra cry it out is not an option, as soon as he cries I am told over and over again until he stops crying like when i pick him up, I have to tell Daphne... he's ok, just ignore him, I am glad she tells me because there are times I am not able to hear him and so I know she will come tell me.

well I hope you enjoyed Our "Mason-isms"  I find them rather funny and annoying at the same time... sorry if it bored you, enjoy!

I can relate to the dinnertime "don't like it" phrase. I like to tell the kids when they're small that they liked it a lot the last time I made it, even if it's not the exact same thing I made before and that usually gets them to give it a shot (and they usually like it afterall!)
Cute kids and fun memories!
