Mother's Day

Remove Formatting from selection
For mother's day I got to go shopping at JoAnn's which if you know me than you know that was the best present ever. I bought fabric, patterns, and misc scrapbooking items. So than I spent the end of the week making myself a skirt...
I know it's a little bolder than I am used too, and it's a horrible angle and the lighting is horrible in our apartment, but hey it is super cute... and I enjoyed my gift to myself.
All ready to go to church... again horrible lighting...
Even though I got my present already, I was told to stay in bed Sunday morning while Dave set up something. Than he came and got me. He had bought me eclairs for my breakfast and got me a new phone cover because my other one was a little too flimsy, and he drew me a card of course. I guess he said he drew it too fast and doesn't like it and so plans on re-drawing it for me. I love his cards, they are just on printer paper but the drawings are one of a kind just for me!
That night for dinner I made chicken parmigana I know, husbands usually make the food, but I love to cook and was excited about this receipe... it turned out great! The girls ate mozerella cheese and spaghetti noodles...
And Daphne tried to give herself hair with the spaghetti. I also made black bottom cupcakes for desert... yum! And had to borrow a egg from our upstairs neighbor lady and she was so nice, and so than I of course gave her several cupcakes for her own. She said she loved them and wants the reciepe.
ok, blogger is really making me angry today... this picture is on here twice and it won't let me delete the top one so oh well...
On Saturday Dave got me this plant... (above) at work, I guess the BX was giving them out to mothers... it's really pretty it has a yellow flower.
My real present was having Sami stand up, her first year being able to do so, with the primary kids and sing "Mother I love You" it was so beautiful. She saw all the kids go up and didn't want to go up, but than Dave went with her and stood off to the side and she stood up in front and sang... it was the best. I have been trying to practice the song with her all week and she never wanted to sing it, but than she sang it in church and than sang it again on the phone for my mom... so sweet.
But this is the gift that the kids gave all the parents... it was so sweet... it made me so happy... and I have it on my dresser. It is a diamond with the stuff inside... so sweet!
Well hope the rest of you had a great mother's Day!

Easter!

So this Easter was a different one than we are used too, we actually did the normal Easter stuff. We dyed eggs Saturday morning.
They were colored and glittered..
Than Saturday night after the girls went to bed I was the Easter Bunny. I am not all that into hidding stuff from the kids... they are too young to get it and so it's not really that big a deal my reason is just to make a big deal about it. Holidays are big to me and so I try and make a big deal out of them. Christmas there gifts are hidden and we talk more about Santa but Easter, they picked there own stuffed animals out... so it wasn't that big of a secret.
Well... I filled the plastic eggs with candy and made a trail from there door to the front room, and than I hid eggs around the front room so they could find them when they woke up.
Of course I made it pretty easy!
Sami picked right up on my little game. She opened her bedroom door woke us up and than told me that there were eggs on the ground. I told her she needed to collect them that they were left for her. So I grabbed a basket and held it for her while she gathered and searched.
She found them all. My parents did easter baskets but me and my little sister Torrie and I would hide jelly beans for each other to find, it became pretty fun especially when my brother would find some months even years later and eat them... it was no big deal after a while... just fun!
After Sami had gathered all the eggs Daphne woke up and so we hurried and made another trail and hid some of the eggs and than got Daphne out of bed and put her on the ground to pick up the first egg. To say my girls are opposites is the complete truth. They are a like in a lot of ways but Daphne sat down, picked up the egg and grabbed out the candy and started snacking away... her stomach is always thinking for her. We than just gathered all the eggs because we wanted to limit her candy supply.
We got ready for church and they wore there new easter dresses. Of course they were matching, Sami's dress had yellow trim on it and so she wore her white sweater, and her yellow hair bow
Daphne's dress had pink trim so she wore her pink sweater. To be honest with you, I had enough fabric left over to make myself a tank top to go over a white shirt... so I matched them... I have been having a blast with my "One Yard Wonder Book" if you like to sew... buy it, it's awesome! I was sewing all week! My sewing machine is a permanent fixture in our front room.
Dave I am so proud of, he has lost 15 lbs in the last 3 weeks. He got weighed yesterday. He still has 40 pounds he wants to loose, when you get that heavy the more in danger you are of having major health problems, so he (working at GNC) is trying his hardest not to be a statistic, and it's great... he is a lot better company, and it's a great example to me... I have eaten less since he started... and can feel a difference... even if the scale doesn't show... (it never does for me, grrr my stupid body)
We didn't take pictures of the rest of our day. We went to Sacrament meeting and I sang "I know my Redeemer lives" with the ward choir, and than we came home changed and drove to Post Falls which is an hour drive away through Spokane, to spend the afternoon with Daves sister Laura and her husband Tim and there daughter Casey and several of there friends. It was a great day. They have the perfect party house. They had easter baskets for all the kids with goodies and so they also had an easter egg hunt and than had a huge ol feast. We went home with several plates of food, which of course I didn't mind...
One of the plates was veggies and we just left it on the table... the rest of the night we would catch the girls snacking on the veggies... it was a sweet release from the begging of candy.. Daphne was hilarious though, she would take a bite of something and if she didn't like it she would put it on the table next to the plate... if she liked if she ate it... it was pretty good!
This is Sami's dress, Daphnes was the same style just smaller. They were pretty easy to make once I figured out what I was doing... they are called a "ballet neck dress" the sleeves are a little huge but it is a great spring/summer dress. They like them and they are cute on. I am not into big frilly dresses! Unless they are bought for me or made for me!
Thanks mom for the fabric though!

Christmas prep

I have been searching high and low for something for Sami to store her Christmas gifts in, and today I finally consented... and bought this, fun plastic drawers, for $20 on sale at Target, of course, I couldn't just let it be I had to fancy it up a bit. It's amazing what a little, mod podge, stickers, scrapbook paper, and vinyl can do... I put her new doll furniture in the drawers and wrapped it up... that will be the last thing she opens Christmas morning. SO excited!
Our first official Christmas party was tonight. Dave had his last final this morning and so he had to work tonight and so I flew solo at the ward Christmas Party. They always serve the best food and so I wasn't going to miss it. Of course we had to visit Santa... Daphne, isn't as scared of strangers as Sami is, as soon as Sami saw Santa she clung to me so bad. So I picked her up, and than put Daphne on Santa's lap... it must have been that fact that she couldn't see me or the beard, but this is how our picture turned out.... awwww what can you do? My biggest thrill of the day was a friend of mine was going to lend me some quilting frames and just gave them to me i guess, well they are awesome, and they take apart and fit right back into this box. I had to finish these awesome quilts for the girls for Christmas, and I did it! They look great. I sewed the blocks together, than, tied the ties, than for my first time ever I sewed the binding... I am so proud of myself, they are a little crazy and uneven, but the girls won't mind and I am so proud of myself. Sami, of course Ariel from Little Mermaid, She picked out the tie colors, purple and blue.. Daphne picked out a Minnie Mouse doll for her birthday and so I just dragged it out... hers was tied in dark pink and dark purple... I am so happy, I also found them $4 pjs at Walmart, Sami, Mermaid, and Daphne minnie Mouse.... I couldn't have planned that any better! Well... keep checking my blog out because I have also been busy re-decorating... I have started with some little things but starting in January I am re-finishing some furniture, getting a new couch and just re-decorating my whole place... I am stoked... oh and we also got a new vaccum and it is awesome... I am in love! I never would have thought that furniture and appliances etc, would be something I wanted so badly... I am getting pots and pans for Christmas... ahh my house is going to look so great!

Hoot Hoot!

Since it was pouring rain we decided today was the day to wear matching shirts, so here we are... I am a huge fan of them matching, whenever I can match them i do, They don't seem to mind and it makes my life a lot easier. I know that Daphne will wear the clothes twice but who cares. Now Daphne wears 12 mo and Sami is 3T - 4T there clothes are in the same places and so it's fun. By the time we have #3 Daphne will be 3 and so they will never get the chance to wear the exact same clothes and so I have to enjoy it while I can. I just hope I have 2 boys next than i will match them up too... oh the powers we have as parents.
These shirts have owl's on them, since Owl's are a new thing right now, they struck me as the perfect shirts, and I love the colors, seriously I wish they had this shirt in my size... As you can tell these girls keep me pretty busy... Daphne has learned to hold her own pretty well, even with the many times that her sister pushes her, kicks her and throws her down so that Daphne won't bother her. One day Dave was watching the girls while I was fixing lunch or something and Sami looks at Daphne and says, " Is it time for your nap yet Daphne" Dave said it was pretty funny, it was not even close to her nap time but Sami wanted to play alone and not share... Yes I got my hands full teaching them to share... If Daphne keeps out eating Sami by double than Sami is going to be in trouble. We are trying to teach Sami putting arms around necks aren't ok... she just gets way into it. But they sure as heck love each other. It's great. This girl doesn't stay still. she is still crawling but just to get somewhere to stand up... she is quite the mobile little girl that is for certain.
I have been trying to get myself organized and was having to buy more containers to organize my crafts and so I decided to finish one I started years and years ago. This isn't done but I started it yesterday. It is very poorly constructed but serves the purpose. It is my t-shirt quilt. I have fronts of t-shirts that I have saved from high-school, college and just other fun ones I don't wear because they don't fit but still love and want to remember them... I mixed in. scraps of fabric and old jean scraps and it's been real fun... When I am finished I am going to take more pictures and describe what it all means to me... It's such memories... each t-shirt is a new memory!
