Samantha turns 3!

My big girl has turned 3, and it makes me a little sad. Since the Sunday after her birthday was Father's Day my family decided to sing to her and my sis-n-law on the Sunday before there birthdays. So we had strawberry shortcake!
We did not light the candles because Sami is terrified of fire, and candles. It all goes back to her first birthday when she put the candle out with her hand, and than last month when we were having a barbecue and the flames got a little out of control! Next to my parents house is a house that has been there for as long as I can remember. It is next to a park that has changed in ways but is still the same, but surrounding the park it used to be just orchards and has since been turned into a road, and now houses. As I was leaving my parents house and driving past this pasture where horses roam, I noticed a mother Duck and her ducklings walking across the road. I was happy I had my camera because it was so cute. If you notice there is still one duck trying to jump the curb... he does it I stayed to make sure but she waited while each of them all jumped up the curb than she lifted the fence for them and they all went into the pasture and disappeared into the grass. It was so cute! Perfect display of being a mother! I worry about my 2 kids let along her 8 that I think she had! So a month ago I ordered Sami's birthday present a kitchen. And a week later it got here and so we put it in her room, in the box, and put blankets over it. She wasn't too distracted by it. So since her birthday was Friday, Thursday night I put her to bed and got it all set up for her. And since she already had a set of princess dishes and some food I put that all away too. (I love play kitchens and miss my strawberry shortcake kitchen I had when I was little) It was the best because it has a cherry border. And when we were deciding on which one, that was the deciding factor... mom has a cherry kitchen, it's only fitting for Sami to have one. I had my sis-n-law make her a matching cherry apron, I haven't gotten a picture of it yet, but it's adorable, she sells them. Friday morning... Sami comes out and she sees her kitchen... I think she likes it, don't you? It has a working burner that when the pots are on it it makes cooking noises and has a phone that actually dials... it will go in there bedroom Monday but for now we are enjoying her playing with it in the front room. Before church today she was washing her hands in the sink and we were making sure the water wasn't burning her... (of course the sink has no real water). Lately I hardly get smiles and when i do, they look like this! That afternoon before we went to McDonald's to meet up with my mom and sisters for lunch. I know this is previous to that because she isn't glued to the new Ariel doll that grandpa gave her. It took me several tries to actually get this moment captured. She didn't mind, they are good sisters and love each other! So happy, this is before she got sun burned on her upper arms and forehead (yes the sun lotion will stay in my purse this sumer, and her hat), and before she got her cold. Daphne is a mover, since she learned to sit up with hardly any topples she hardly ever goes on her stomach unless it is something she really wants. This is after she got into something she really wanted, and since she can only scoot backwards, she just got further and further under the couch. We had Sami's party at the sprinkler park and we were afraid that we would get rained out, but it turned out to be a great day. This is Sami waiting for her friends to show up. My party display. I have decided I love crafting too much, that I make everything cutesy, I hope that I don't stop being that way, because it's too much fun! We had handi snacks for treats, strawberries, and I made goodie bags that had bubbles, candy necklace, sea shells, and a glow in the dark bracelet in them. They were a hit! It was an "Under the Sea" party and so I had fun with my cricut. I got a new cartridge that has Ariel on it. She is tough to make but Flounder and Sebastian were fun, Sebastian was the easiest. They were my cup cake toppers! There is an Ariel in the middle. I cut her out and didn't know what to do with her until I got there and decided she could be Sami's cupcake. We let one of her friends take it home, I can make more! Sami in one of her new outfits that grandma Ransom bought her. It is so cute! It was breezy and so I did have her wear a shirt under the tank top. Of course an Ariel swimsuit... wish I would have gotten a bigger size... it won't last through the summer. cousins Elizabeth and Olivia in the sprinklers... you can see what kind of day it was.. but they still had fun! Kids don't care. When we woke up and noticed it was raining I got really bummed and we talked of re-scheduling but I didn't want to do that... I had just made 3 boxes of cupcakes. I figured if all else fails the kids can play in the rain, kids love playing in the rain!
Thanks to all of you that came and shared the day and celebration with us, it was a success because of you. She has not stopped playing with her many gifts. Now on to celebrate Father's Day!

Life.... in February

It's been quite the month, and I can't believe it will be over soon. March is a fun month of course, with all the birthdays in our family, I better start planning now. If I can plan it out we will have no babies born in March!
Sami lately has taken up to sleeping on the couch. I don't know what it is about her bed that scares her. After I got rid of the tissue paper ball that hung from the ceiling that she was terrified of (go figure I got it from a baby shower was planning on making more for there ceiling) I thought she'd be ok. Some mornings if I don't latch there door all the way I come out to find her asleep on the couch (good thing she can't unlock doors, or who know where she'd be). This is actually in the evening, it was a no nap day so this is what happens! Daphne cut her first tooth. She is 5 months on the 23, so yes this is quite early. I have friends that babies are almost a year and have not cut any teeth. She cut the one and than the next day i was writing it down in her baby book when I realized she cut two, right next to eachother. I compared her and Sami's teeth cutting ages, and they are definitely sisters. Cut the same two teeth, at the same age. It hasn't started being a problem with the whole nursing thing but I know as those little blades come in all the way, they will be a problem and she will learn just like her sister did and life will be good again.
Besides the teeth she is doing great, she loves to pinch us, and I can't tell you how painful that is, but she is well, for the first time since she was born, she is well. I say this as I hear about huge RSV breakouts in the area, but I pray she will stay well! Dave loves his new job, here he is on his lunch break. He works for Campbell & Company, (the former Campbell & Bruce, it's a sensitive subject apparently). It's great. He is going to look into a promotion and try to advance in the company, we shall see. He was complaining that we don't have enough pictures of Daphne so that lunch we took a ton, since that was when Sami was napping on the couch. Back when I was prego with Daphne, my friends threw me a baby shower and a game they played was guess the baby food, so I got a few jars from it. So i decided hey, since she has teeth than we need to try food. She only enjoyed a bite. Sami (and me) ate the rest. It was apricots. Come to find out that night Daphne started having a horrible runny nose and red, watering eyes. After a day or two it passed. I am pretty sure she is allergic to apricots... we will see after next month when she is 6 mo and can officially start eating baby food! Those dang teeth! So earlier this week I open the blinds and this is what I see. I go shower come back out and this is what I see. Can you tell why the ducks like this pool... it looks the color of a pond, but sadly there was no food in there (maybe some algae) I don't know why they don't cover it during the winter but disgusting! Here is Sami and Flounder watching the ducks... Daphne, I am determined is going to crawl and walk before Sami did... so any time she can hack it she is on her tummy! Sami testing out the cupboard we got from grandma... she fit in it just fine!
hope your month is going well, so far so good for us, knock on wood. Apparently the curses that I thought I was going to have this year turning 30, after last month, have gone away!

Woe is Me!

Well I have decided I am not a fan of 2010. Well so far this year, the car fiasco, (which is now over thank goodness) and well many other fun things but yet again one more unfortunate incident... I will tell you in a minute! Oh besides that I turn 30 this year and that is just depressing to me. But anyways...
Because of the car accident, we had to replace our car seats. Did you know that. I can't remember if I have mentioned it on here yet, but did you know with any impact your car gets you have to replace the car seats. They are like bike helmets. You drop them on the ground they are not going to be as good of support if you wreck and need the head support. I think it's more so with motorcycle helmets. Well. Sami is just big enough to fit in a booster. It is a 30-100 pounds booster. I really hope she doesn't have to sit in it until she weighs 100 pounds... I didn't weigh 100 until I was in high school. It has a back that comes off in a few years, but here she is in her new seat. We are rather silly in our house a lot of the time... Sami has been wearing this hat a lot... it's her dad's new scout hat. Not a very good picture but this is of Sami in her new tutu that grandma Shirley made her. Grandma Shirley is selling girly*girly tutu's on the Ransom-made.com website. Check it out! Ok now for the unfortunate news. I was getting my exact o knife ready to use to cut some stuff out. I was putting the blade in the knife when the next thing I know the knife is sticking out of my hand and the blade is all the way in my hand. It was about a 1/2 inch in. A small slice not bigger than my pinky finger, fingernail. It was yesterday afternoon (Monday). I quickly called my mom to ask her if I needed to go to the doctor. Than I called Dave. He came home from work right away (an hour early). We got the girls ready and than took Sami to my mom's and than headed to KGH. We waited for an hour and it took a half hour for them to see me. They gave me a tetanus shot, in my upper arm (which is now incredibly sore) and than cleaned my hand thoroughly and put this nifty bandage on it. And told me not to get it wet for 24 hours. I was in a little bit of a shock, kinda felt like I was going to faint, or throw up. Dave took me to Burger King and got me food. I felt much better after that. My entire hand hurts. My knuckles are bruised, my pinky is bruised and the palm of my hand is very sore. I can't stretch my fingers out and grabbing things is very painful. Needless to say, i will not be using the exact o knife for sometime. When we got home from the doctor I decided to just relax and watch "Hope Floats" I've been on a Harry Connick Jr fix and Sandra Bulock so this sufficed. During the dancing scene where they dance to Garth Brooks song, "To Make you Feel my Love" I look over and Sami is dancing with Pooh, it was so cute... i had to snap a pic.
Ok I've told you about this fish but I had to show you so you can understand the enormity of it. This is Sami's new best friend Flounder. And she actually calls it Flounder. We got it at Value Village for $3.00 it was the best purchase I have ever made for her, she loves it. She lays on it, sleeps with it, it would go places with us if I would let it... when we leave she says bye to it, it is so cute. It is a good addition to our many toys.
I just realized that all these pictures basically have Sami in them... Daphne is doing great, i will post more of her later. She smiles, cries, sleeps, and gets frustrated with not being able to fit her entire hand in her mouth. She comes close though. She has started making kissing noises. We do it a lot in our house. That's me and Dave's thing. But now she has caught on and does it a lot too. She wants to sit up but can't quite do it. She can roll over from her stomach to back but not very often. She is enjoying teething tablets, and loves to smile and laugh. And she turned 4 mo this past Friday... wow how time flies... in 2 mo she will be 6 mo and eating solids... crazy how fast she is growing. Oh and she wants to crawl. If she figures out how to move her arms than she will be on her way, she's got the legs all figured out!
well enjoy and hope and pray for us that we will start having a better year!
