Friday night we dropped Sami off at my mom's house to sleep. This is harder than you would think new mothers who have never done this... you miss your babies dearly, but you are ok, and make it through the night a lone with out there presence. Saturday: we woke up at 5:00 am and left the house by 6:00 am hence the reason why Sami slept at my parents house. She usually sleeps until 7:30 and I knew if she were to wake up she would have been cranky the whole rest of the day for grandma and besides we wanted to just get going.
These are some photos showing you how much fun we had on our day trip to Seattle. We did stop and get breakfast at McDonalds before leaving town and than were on our way. We stopped a couple times to go potty and fought sweetly, over the temperature in the car. I was always cold and David was always hot. I didn't warm up until we got into Seattle.
This is a picture of us going through the pass. My dad checked it out for us and found out that it was clear, but there was snow and just avalanche warnings and so we are glad we got going.
I just thought this was so pretty... I know I see snow but not like this hardly ever. It was so pretty. I just had to capture it.
We stopped in Snowqualmie to go to the bathroom and yes the snow was this tall there and all along the road for quite awhile.
Ok now the best part of the trip for me of course. We had to wait in this monstrous line to exchange our tickets for a badge and waiting in the lobby just for this purpose was my favorite Star Wars character. It all came to pass after in high school I had a bad hair few years I guess and my sister nicknamed me Chewsacca. I am proud to announce this now because my hair doesn't look like that and if you think it does than stop looking at my site and leave me a lone. (sorry the pregnant woman talking)

(sorry the pregnant woman talking) We didn't know what to expect going into this very very packed Comic Convention but we soon used our program to find that there was only one editor there and he worked for "Bob's Comic's" whatever that was. But we went ahead and talked to him and he had a weird way of explaining things (he talked more than he needed too). Than we continued to walk around and talk to various artists that were there representing themselves and signing comic books that people were buying. (that is mostly what it was nerds going around getting there comic books signed. Yes I know my husband owns two large boxes of comic books but he is not into that sort of thing).
Oh I forgot to mention the weird dress of some folks. There was of course a group of people dressed up represented by the convention who dressed that way for picture takers, and than there were some who well for example a girl dressed in a tight leather boost teea and painted green... oh and it was a thong... I am just so glad she was skinny. But there were storm troppers, darth vadar, a brave girl in the gold bikini by Princess Leia and so on.
We talked to this guy who did a special issue of Iron Man but is now working on X-Files stuff. His name if I remember right was Brian Denham... or something close. He gave a lot of good constructive criticism. It sounds like David has some work to do, and surprisingly David was already thinking what he was told. But wonderfully enough every artist said the same stuff. So that is good.
We talked to Eric Larsen a pretty old famous artist, and this guy that works for Dark Horse comics that works on the Star Wars comics and his work was better than the other artists we have seen. At that point David had no one else to talk to and had gotten the information he had come for and so we left, I didn't think we were completely done but I needed lunch.
We left the Convention center on Pike Street and decided we would go in search of a place to eat. We walked a couple blocks and realized our best bet was the "Cheesecake Factory" it was going to basically be a once in a lifetime thing for me... because I love Cheesecake. We had been given some money prior to the trip and decided to use it for the trip and so why not. We were on a fun trip.
I had a turkey sandwich, soup and salad. David had nachos. I ate most of my salad and wasn't in the mood for my spicy soup which David took over, and ate a bite of my sandwich and decided that I didn't want to gorge myself and so I brought it home. We also of course bought Cheesecake slices to go.
Just down the street was the beginning to the Pike Street Mall, or that is what I am calling it. Every good clothing store you could imagine (didn't see Mother hood though) and it was all outside, if I wasn't prego I would have loved the huge American Eagle. David loves arcades go figure and they had "Game Works" the largest arcade there is. They don't have them everywhere and Dave just wanted to walk around. They didn't have Tekken 6 and so we didn't stay. We walked through Nike Town a bit but than decided to get on the road. We got on the road and out of Seattle basically by 3. We had a good trip home except for the horrible headache I got and couldn't get rid of... I seriously have worse headaches this time around than I did last time... tylenol has become of good comfort and sleep. When we got to Snowqualmie there it started. The back up of traffic going into Seattle. Those people have no idea how long a wait they were in for.
It backed up for a few miles near Snowqualmie and than it started again right before Cle Elum. Lets put it this way. It took us 15-20 min to pass them and we were driving going the opposite way going 75 mph... so about 20 miles of back up. As we were nearing the end we did notice a huge neon sign dictating that I-90 was closed so they knew.
When we got off in Ellensburg to get gas and drinks I let the cashier know because a few of her customers were asking. She said she thinks it's closed for Avalanche warning... who knows how long they waited I felt so bad for them. They were out of there cars talking to people. I decided right than an there next time we go on a day trip we are packing a emergency bag, with a blanket, bottle water, perishable food, toilet paper, hand santizer... etc... In that situation we would have desperately appreciated it. We decided that next year when we go we will be going the night before and maybe flying. It was crazy.
We got to my mom's around 6:30 we were so happy to see our little girl and as you can see she was happy to see us. We gathered her up and went home. I laid on the couch with my headache and at 8:30 me and Sami hit the hay.

It was a good experience and I am so glad that we went. We found out the San Diego conventions are where most editors are. So if the result from this convention is good next year than San Diego here we come. The Dragon Horse guy we talked to said that he went 3 years in a row before he got a job. David will just keep at it and budget his time better and fix the problems that they told him about (which were few) and we will see what happens. In the meantime we aren't going to drop out of school, or live in squaller like the weird "Rocky Horror Picture Show" loving editor recommended. he was the only one that said that.
