New Piano!

Over Christmas we went to my parents house and when ever I am at there house I always do a search through her piano music to see if there is anything fun. Usually I end up hiking some of her music from down stairs to the upstairs piano, her baby grand… well my mom retired right before Christmas and I expressed my desire to start teaching Sami piano, maybe get one of my kids to enjoy it as much as I do. She gave me some unused books and some fun stuff to play for myself. I got it home and sat down to play and clunk… my piano I discovered was severly out of tune, this made me very upset…
Well I wrote a previous post on my love for my upright…

So I basically haven't played since before Christmas, which is a huge bummer when piano is like my thing, I don't enjoy playing in public, because I think I am better than I actually am, so it's just embarrassing i guess. Well after attempting to tune the old piano, and it not being successful, we got rid of it and than the search began. My husband had always said, it will work out and it will feel right… but when you are desperate for a piano that is hard to swallow. I had my eye on this Kimball Consollette but it's two and half hours north of us closer to the border, so we decided that wasn't the best choice. So than I happened to post my desperate plea on face book and a good friend of mine let me know they were wanting to sell there piano. I finally had a chance to go look at it on Wednesday and I fell in love. It is in pristine condition, other than her dogs peed on the legs of the piano, and so that is something I will have to get used to our figure out how to get rid of, but other than that it's great. I sat down after my husband brought it home today (with the help of 3 other men in our ward one being our previous bishop) and played for a good hour and half than I had to stop for my son to nap… than I played for another hour or so after playing the first lines of the Disney piano book i own playing guess that tune with Sami, she knew them all with in the first line… so yes I love it and am so happy to have music in our home once again…

the oddest thing about this, call it fate or what not but when I was in young women's I went to girls camp and our camp song for the year was "Angels Among Us" by Alabama I believe. After I tried looking for the sheet music so I could play it, and once i found it in a odd shop but didn't have the money or something but it was in a Dan Coates book, which I love his arrangements, and I looked for it when ever I went to the piano store, and have never found it. So when I went through the book of music my friend gave me with the piano I was shocked to see a Dan Coates country songs book, the first song was guess what… "Angels Among Us" wow if that wasn't supposed to be my piano I don't know what…
I will ever be grateful to my friend Sheri for selling me this piano, for much cheaper than she could have gotten else where for it… I promised her it would get lots of use… I am so excited… and it's light enough to where we can move it anywhere!

It's a Hobart M. Cable and built in the 60's, which is ironic because the last piano I had, had been in my dads house since the 60's but was much much older…

It's just cool because this is my first piano I actually got to choose and pay for and so I know I will value it much more… hard to imagine but I definitely will baby it.

Oh, it was my mother's day present and my birthday present from my parents..
a bit spendy for Mother's day but I don't care!

That's so great! It's the best to have a piano being used. I think you play wonderfully.
