May #4

Boring blog time now...

I have been struggling with some health issues and today my day was made.

I got a letter in the mail from my doctor saying:

"Wow, you have done some good work! Your total cholesterol is down to 205 from 273. Your LDL (bad cholesterol) is down from 194-102!! You should be proud of yourself! "

I am proud of myself...  I know losing weight to some of you might seem pretty self explanatory but I haven't been able to loose more than 5 lbs until now. I am down to 152 from 165, YEAH!!! Of course it didn't happen fast, I was at 160 in January and have lost the rest since. After my doctor telling me I must lower my cholesterol or I will have to go on medicine after done breast feeding I decided I was not taking one more pill (already taking thyroid) and so me and Dave decided I was going to start working out at the gym, no more work out dvds, but some serious working out. I started out just going to the gym for 40 min or so and doing some elliptical and bike ridding but that was not very effective and so in March after going for a month I found the best machine ever. It's called an active Motion trainer. It's amazing. It does anything a stair stepper and elliptical can do but you use your own weight to determine, it's like walking on air, and it makes it hard to stop and start, a lot harder than a regular elliptical. I looked up the machine on line and found out it's a $10,000 machine it's definitely worth it. On an elliptical working out for 65 minutes I burn 350-400 calories, but on this machine I burn between 750-800 calories, hence the weight loss. Since I have the thyroid problems I have discovered that I have a very slow metabolism so an average person can loose weight on an elliptical but I am not average and can not. Since I am not progressing as fast as I want I have changed my diet up a bit, but still cheat occasionally. I don't refer to it as a diet, I refer to it as a lifestyle change because there are certain foods I don't want to put in my body because they make me feel nasty. Hamburgers are very rare with me, cream cheese, any cheeses, any milk besides non fat, the list goes on.

This has given me the hope that I needed to continue on, if nothing else gets in the way I will get to my goal weight in time!
