Death of the Playstation 3

So I usually don't make 2 posts in one day, but this is special circumstances:

It was an unusual day, and so when Dave came home at 4 and both girls were still taking there naps he got to sit down and play his games with out any interruptions.

Or so he thought....

Dave came up with the brilliant idea to just rent games instead of buy them. As most of you gaming wives know, this is a brilliant idea, because a $20 a month rental fee is a lot cheaper than a $60 game every couple of months that they get bored of and than it's not used after a period of time. Well, this is great unless your system dies on you mid game and the game that has been rented is stuck in the machine... Let me elaborate

This is David ... in the spring of 2007. It had been a good time for him. He had just gotten married that previous summer and his wife was expecting and due in a couple of months. Him and his wife worked but still times were tough. They lived in a 1 bedroom apt that cost them $661 a month and did have all the amenities. They had bees living on there porch but things were still good. One night over subs at Quizno's David tells his beautiful and loving wife, I want the new Playstation 3 that has just come out. It cost $600 and has a Blu-ray player. He goes on knowing this is a lot of money and that he needs to explain this to his wife. He tells her that Blu-rays are going to be the next thing, and that it plays music, and holds pictures, and that he is going to get a second job to pay for this machine. Sara hesitates knowing this is well thought out idea and knows she could possibly get something out of this for herself. He agrees to her getting a Cricut and she is a go.

They go to his than job Comp USA and they purchase this machine (on credit) with plans to pay it off in 3 months. A 3 months no interest credit. He buys 2 new games to sweeten the deal and they are in and out and on there way home in no time.

As you can see this is the Playstation 3, looks like battle star Galactica and is great condition.

This is what the Playstation 3 looks like today. When David let Sara know of this unfortunate news they weighed the options. Either pay $150 or so to send it in to Sony (being 3 years old no warranty) and have them repair it and send it back with the game that was stuck in it, or to cut there loses, and save up and buy a brand new one at half the cost (seeing they are now $299) with no other problems on the horizon. Verdict is in, David gets a new Playstation 3. We have some money coming in, in a couple of weeks, and so that is when we will get our new Playstation 3. You ask me why we need another. Well David is quite into playing video games, he has been a gamer since he was old enough to play games. We have many old systems and many of his young memories are of playing video game of some sort. It is a great system. We had the X-Box I prefer this to it, we have a Wii, it is great but doesn't do half the stuff that this deluxe machine does.

It plays DVD's, Blu-ray, we stream our music from our computer on to it and so I have access to all my Itunes music and Iphoto pictures (yes we own a mac, I have been converted, no comments please) and many other wonderful things, that and we have Netflix and they have it on the PS3 and so we have unlimited movies to watch which include many of my girly flicks at the push of a button and of course most of the Office seasons, and Dora... And we have downloaded many of Office episodes and Conference and whatever else. We can also rent movies on the Playstation store, so if I am having a bad day that is what I get. So yes it is something we have grown accustomed to having in our house. It's worth it. Besides no PS3 = husband not happy = no craft supplies for Sara... So after a very long explanation here we are. A game stuck in the machine, machine no use, and so Sara gets to begin a very fun extraction. As you can tell it didn't take much and screw needing a special screw driver the top just broke off, than about 6 long screws here... 4 short screws here, well not really the last too wouldn't come and so Metal bends pretty easily when it's thin, and here we are the optical drive located Disc retrieved. Success, David is happy, Sara is happy and no one looses $50 for a game that we didn't own. Needless to say Everyone is happy.

After that things were good we pulled out the old DVD player and started watching Beauty and the Beast. Than half way through, Beast is mad and telling her to get out and we get skipping. We will have none of this. I can say this, because I know I am not the only mother out there that does this (don't deny it, your not a bad mom) but the TV is on a lot of the day. Days we are at home all day it's Sami movie, mommy movie, Sami movie and so on. Nap time comes music is on etc. It is noise basically unless someone is tired it's noise and other things are going on in the mean time...

We called the folks to borrow a DVD player turns out they were referring to a VHS player... what are those??? =)

David rigged up an old desk top tower he got from my grandma and is using it for computer classes and it's our DVD player until Santa makes a very late delivery.

All in a days work. Now if only Sara could get rid of this nasty stomach ache and stop blogging for a couple days things would get better! =)
