June 18th 2007, less than 11 months after me and Dave were married, we got up at 7 am got ready and headed to the Provo, Utah hospital. I was induced around 9 am, and at 9:55 pm after pushing for maybe 5 minutes, I was told to wait for the doctor, and than proceeded to throw up, my first up chuck, out came Sami's head, my second out came Sami and shredded everything else in the process. We left the hospital 2 days later, and spent our first night with her wondering what we had gotten ourselves into. My mom came to visit us and help us move and laughed at us as we changed our first poppy diaper. 2 weeks later we moved into her basement and 2 months later we moved into our own apartment. It wasn't until December that I finally felt like I could do the mother thing, nothing could have ever prepared me for raising my first born.
Sami is one of a kind and apparently just as defiant as I was at that age. She is blond, and loves The Little Mermaid, I can't keep her busy enough at home and when she started preschool 2 days a week a year ago I would have never thought she would have been ready and I was completely prepared to hold her back a year since she was a summer birthday, but in 1 year my opinion changed and she is now this beautiful girl who knows her ABC's, and all the sounds they make, How to write her ABC's, how to spell several words, knows all her colors in spanish as well as english, knows her numbers and can count by 5's and 10's, and today she started her first day of
KINDERGARTEN!!!
Last Thursday we went to the school and had a private conference with her teacher Mrs. Elam, and Sami wanted to stay, she has been so excited for this day. I have been too but nothing again could have prepared me this. She woke up around 6:30 and ate her breakfast of banana, toast and milk, than got dressed. It was 36 degrees that morning so a jacket was a must and almost not enough. Dad gave her a special Father's Blessing and mom walked her to school.
In front of the doors of her school, which she will complete kindergarten and than 1st grade, before Dave graduates (or less). We got to the school and waited outside until 8:18 am and than I walked her to her class. School starts at 8:20
We walked to her hook and put her backpack and jacket on it's hook and than her lunch pail in it's place than she sat down and got right to work coloring a picture of a school bus, yellow. She sits at the same table with her friend Ian from our ward and there are 4 other kids in the same class she also knows from church and pre-school. It broke my heart to leave her there and know I wasn't going to see her until 2:50 but I know she would be busy and have a blast. I hugged her kissed her and said I didn't want to leave, and she said that it was time for me to leave and she would see me later... I teared up and kissed her again and left. I walked home and got Daphne ready to go to her play date, after we went grocery shopping than came home and had lunch and than tried out her potty seat for the first time, and she loved sitting on there, and continually through the day would sit there and wait than wipe and flush the toilet and on and on, at dinner I had to pull her away.
At 2:30 i loaded Ezra and Daphne into the stroller and we walked to the school to pick up Sami. We waited in the foyer for awhile before I realized I needed to go get her from her class room. She goes again Thursday and than this is her Friday. I am excited for her, and it was so fun to hear what she had to say. Her favorite thing was playing red light green light in PE, and finishing coloring the bus. Her teacher is awesome and has a go home folder that stays in her back pack. So it had her bus, and a hand that she had spanish words on and colored and cut out. Her lunch, she had only eaten her sandwich and half of an oreo, but I will continue to pack it full since I know she will be hungrier from now on. We took our time walking home while she ate her snack of Oreo's. I will probably take those from now on since that is her favorite and so i won't put them in her lunch but just have them for her after school. Gotta have a after school snack. Than when we got home she watched a bit of My Little Pony, than we had dinner, than a bath and than On came Monster's Inc, which as you can see she fell asleep to, her dad's gonna be bummed when he gets home, he was so excited for her this morning. But I am glad it went well, and all my bad dreams and anxieties about today were for nothing (as always) and so hopefully I can sleep better tonight.

Very good documentation of her first day. Good job mom =) I'm glad it all went well, I get anxiety just hearing about other mothers going through this and we have a year to wait!
