We left for our short but good Oregon Coast visit Thursday morning. I was trying to save money and so I packed us lunches and all kinds of snacks for the drive down.
We stopped around 11 at Multonomah Falls for lunch. It was great. We didn't hike up at all we just snapped a picture and were on our way.
After a few minutes it sounds like the trunk it open and so I made Dave pull off so we can check it. We take an exit in Trout dale and end up turning into a business park that was apparently having a shift change... or late lunch... so we waited in there parking lot for 20 min for our turn to leave. Than we pulled off a few minutes more when Dave realizes we need gas and that his lunch wasn't good enough to fill him up, so we ate a second lunch at Wendy's. Hamburgers, fries, and even some frosty's because hey, we are on vacation.
When we got to Cape Look Out, around 4 after getting lost in Portland and taking an exit in Milwaukie (did any one know that Oregon has a Milwaukie?) and buying a great map, we found our way there, even through the windy roads that had me looking out the window the entire time afraid I might be sick. We pull into our spot and quickly set up our camp site before heading to my parents camp trailer which was 10 min down the road for dinner. Of course you can't set up camp with out some drama from the peanut gallery and the mistake was made when she saw her mermaid swim suit... so a complete melt down ending in a large lecture and time out from her very annoyed and exhausted (already) mother.
After dinner we opted out of family time at my uncle's vacation home rental and came back and hit the beach. It was great until Sami decided she just wanted to run right into the waves, no looking back, (surprisingly enough, the second day, afraid of the water) but it was great and she was in bed by 9:30.
We woke up Friday after a non relaxing evening. Daphne slept with mom and dad all night and mom froze...

We woke up Friday after a non relaxing evening. Daphne slept with mom and dad all night and mom froze... We had pancakes for breakfast and headed to the air museum for the tour. It was great. To start the viewing I got hot chocolate and Dave had an energy drink and some popcorn.
After the viewing we headed to McD's of course for some lunch...
And apparently I forgot all about our camera for the rest of the trip.

And apparently I forgot all about our camera for the rest of the trip. We went to Tilamook Cheese factory and had some great ice cream with home made waffle cones. Than went down to the beach while the girls took some naps. Than we had dinner at my Uncles rental home and got home to have s'mores. Dave hit the hay with Sami and me and Daphne enjoyed the s'mores. It was late we were exhausted. Daphne got herself a seaside cold and couldn't breathe very well all night long. We re arranged the beds and I slept with Daphne and Dave with Sami. I woke up a few times but did actually sleep better. Finally she was up at 6 and I just gave up and we took a walk on the beach while Dave and Sami finished sleeping. I will tell you though, next time we go to the beach I will be setting an alarm to wake up at 5 or something to get down to the beach. There were tidal pools and tons of crabs walking around. I found 3 whole sand dollars (my favorite thing to find at the beach) I have tons so I gave them to NaDell's kids.
This is our tent... this morning we packed up and drove home. We stopped a few times and had a great time, and were completely exhausted when we got home. I think it will take me a good week to recover from this trip. It was great though, I wish we could have stayed longer... we have plans for longer trips next summer when Daphne is older and sleeps better...

I'm sure that next year the camping experience will be much better. You guys still managed to have fun, it seemed like. Thanks for camping by us. We liked it. And thanks for the sand dollars. They are awesome!
looks like some fun memory making =)
It was a lot of fun to see you guys! Your girlies are so cute!
Cute Pictures! I especially love the one with the girls in the plane.
What a fun trip!!! Did you guys get caught in the construction around the falls? I had to drive my aunt to portland to catch her plane and me and the kids hit it at the worst time of day. It took us 1 hour and 45 min to move 30 miles. So glad you guys had a good time!
