Daphne Jean Mason

After days of being promised we finally got our chance. Beware before you continue there is a whole lot of cute ness, information, and tired looking people!
The day before we went in, I was chilling with my girl, and I had my feet propped up on my new ottoman and than noticed Sami's feet were the same way. So cute. Oh and notice our matching toe nail polish. I painted them on Sunday and she just had to have it done too, I am totally meant to be a mom of girls! Well... where to start. We... were told to call on Tuesday the day I was scheduled for inducement and they were very busy still, and so they said call back Wednesday morning. I called at 5:30 am and they said it would be great if you could be here by 6:30. So we got all ready and dropped Sami off with my parents and headed to the hospital.
We were shown to our room, and the fun began. I got stuck with needles right away than the doctor came in. He checked me out and discovered that I wasn't really ready. A whole lot of medical talk that I really didn't understand, but apparently I felt they should have just told me to go home, but since they didn't have a ton of ladies waiting to come in they kept me.
They gave me some medicine to prepare me so I would be ready to get the inducement medicine. There were no promises and I was just told it would be awhile. At 12 noon they gave me the second dose and I finally started feeling some contractions. At 4 she came back in and was waiting for my 3rd dose of the medicine and decided to check me. I was getting there. After that check.. things went all crazy. Lets just say my body, once it decides to do something it does it and doesn't hold back. She walked out of the room and the major labor contractions started. I was in a whole lot of pain. I started crying to my husband because they just kept telling me they were preparing me for the real medicine. At 4:30 I was still in a lot of pain and so they gave me some other medicine which was the best stuff ever and made me feel like I was in fantasy land, until I opened my eyes and threw up. Than the contractions hit again hard, one right after the other and so she was getting me something for the nausea when i told her I was in so much pain. She checked me I was dilated to a 5. She quickly called the antistiologist up to give me the epidural, and by the time he was done I was at a 7. So around 6 I laid there enjoying the new epidural and knowing I didn't have too much longer since the room started filling with nurses getting stuff ready.
At about 7 or so the doc came in and by 7:27 pm she was born. Surprisingly the epidural had done it's job and I had not a whole lot of pain. They gave me some new medicine all the while me just feeling like i was in la la land. They let me hold her for a bit until they decided to weigh and measure her and get her cleaned up. (the picture above). She weighed 7 lbs 3oz, and was 20 1/2 in long. She doesn't look (to me a whole like her sister did, and definitely bigger, in weight , her sister was a 1/2 in longer).
Here is the proud dad holding his new girl. Proud grandma Ransom Proud Grandpa Ransom. Before they got her all cleaned up. Giving her, her first bath (hardly any crying), apparently she loved the water. My new little sausage baby The new momma enjoying the effects of the medicine and glad they didn't send me home when they probably should have. Feeling better getting stuff done for insurance companies. My little sausage baby enjoying just being close to me... so cute! The day after her sister came to visit. She loves her, and gave her a kiss after this picture was taken on her forehead. At home, on our first day, she loves having her hands by her face, which is great for holding her binkie in her mouth. My wonderful husband giving me a break and trying to get her to wake up enough to eat... She is right at home on her daddies chest... another daddies girl in the making. Notice the other girl, sitting on his other side all comfortable. i had asked her to move so I could sit down and she said no, and sat even close to her dad.
It's been a long couple of days but thank goodness for medicine and yummy food I am doing great. Hot showers are my favorite thing and I take at least 2 a day. Daddy has been sleeping on the couch while Daphne takes up his side of the bed sleeping in the hole on her boppy. She is a major cuddler and has already learned how to tease her momma.
I can't believe I am now a mother of 2 beautiful little girls, the happiness brings tears to my eyes, it will be a hard transition, but I know that it will be great. Loving life, and once I heal and feel myself life will get even better.

Congratulations Sara, she is beautiful! I found the transition to two difficult. Just take a deep breath and enjoy being completely out of control for a while :) Love ya!

I love hearing these birthing stories... each one is different and unique... but in the end another beautiful baby is added to a family. Thank you so much for including pics and I'm so happy they didn't send you home! Enjoy the showers and taking many naps. :) Congrats!
